Welcome Everyone!

I dread weekday mornings! Currently, I am getting up at 4:30am to take my two littlest girls to my grandma’s while I am working.
The girls are still sleepy and don’t want to get up –neither do I. Every morning while it is still cold and dark outside, I pack-up their clothes, toys, load the girls into the car, buckle them into their car-seats Still in their pajamas, I cover them up with a blanket for a ride across town. I drop my sleepy headed girls off and watch as they proceed into my Grandmother’s bedroom and crawl into bed with her. At that point I’m wishing that I could join them however, I head to work.
Work starts at 7:00am and ends at 3:30 pm Monday through Friday. After work I pick up the girls from my Grandma’s, and sometimes after work I have to run errands. By the time I got home on Friday this week it was 7:00pm. My feet hurt, I was hungry, and I just wanted to sit down. However, as a mother I knew that I needed to fix supper for my family. I proceeded to get the items out of the fridge needed to make a chef salad. I thought this would be a quick meal then I could relax. I should have known this would not be the case.
My 2 and 4 year old pulled up their stools right next to me and insisted on helping. What would have taken me two minutes ended up taking thirty minutes by the time the girls helped and I cleaned up the mess they made shredding the lettuce.
Part of me just wanted to make the salad myself. However, children learn from example and trying to do things on their own. I can’t resist letting them help me with things when they show an interest in learning. It just melts my heart how they want to be so helpful, making my exhaustion bearable.

  1. Wow, that is a lot to deal with every day. It is nice when kids want to help you isn't it? I have 5 boys and 1 girl, the girl was really never helpful, but the boys love to be in the kitchen, not so much to help me with dinner, but to be creative on their own. And yes, they try to clean up, but most of it is on me. I will take the messy kitchen anyday over the "he did it she did it" screaming that just puts my nerves on the attack. Ihope that someday after you get your degree, life will calm down some for you. Or at least I wil hope your workday will start later. lol
